Embarking on a journey without rigid planning and surrendering to divine guidance can be a powerful experience. My recent trip to Kumbh Prayagraj was one such journey, filled with miraculous alignments and spiritual revelations. With just a thought and a message, two companions joined me, and we set out on this sacred expedition. I have a time and date of departure but the arrival date and time is not normally fixed, which allows me to flow as need be and can have a comfortable and relaxing trip.
The journey began at 9 AM from Nashik, and without any hurdles, we reached Jabalpur by 8 PM. Along the way, we discovered a serene resort named Sukoon, which provided excellent food and a clean, comfortable stay. It felt like a divine arrangement, ensuring we were well-rested before continuing our sacred trip.
At 3 AM, following an inner calling, we departed from Jabalpur. Despite previous warnings about a massive 300 km traffic jam, an energy check reassured me that we should move forward. Miraculously, there was no traffic until we reached Prayagraj at 9 AM. Even the one-hour congestion near Triveni Sangam before parking felt like a minor pause rather than an obstacle, reaffirming the power of alignment with divine energy.
At Prayagraj, we parked as close as possible to the Sangam, though alternative parking options were available farther away. Those preferring to avoid traffic could opt for a bike ride (Rs. 100 per person) or a rickshaw to reach the sacred site from the nearest parking i.e. 4 kms distance.
Reaching Sangam was an overwhelming experience, a culmination of divine synchronicities leading us to this sacred confluence. The spiritual ambiance was palpable. There were two ways to take the holy dip—either by boarding a boat for Rs. 300-500 per person or simply immersing oneself at a spot just 100 meters from the Sangam. The essence of the ritual lies in the devotion and intent rather than the location and thus you can avoid the boat ride and long waiting and que for boating.
You can follow your own puja methods. The one i follow is a mix from lot of ancient scriptures which includes aatma shudhikaran, prokshan, achaman, sankalp, prayer, dhyan and inviting the deity and performing the karya which is holy dip here and end with forgiveness prayer (kshama prathana).
One of the most significant acts at Sangam was performing Pitru Tarpan—offering water to ancestors, expressing gratitude, and allowing them to ascend. No elaborate rituals or priests are required; simple heartfelt prayers with water sufficed. You can see my videos on youtube or any other videos too are available for your quick reference. Those wishing to amplify their offering could include black sesame, flowers, naivedya, dhoop, deep, and gandh. However, above all, it is the sincerity of intention that matters the most.
The arrangements by the government were commendable, with well-maintained toilets, ample water, and various food options. For accommodation, both free and paid tent stays were available. Many spiritual organizations offered free satsangs and havans, fostering a deeply immersive spiritual environment. Erecting our own tent is also an option which is most appealing for me.
Some of my friends had stayed for a month, taking full advantage of the divine energy present at Kumbh. The experience reaffirmed how surrendering to divine guidance ensures that every step is perfectly orchestrated. This journey was not just about reaching a destination; it was about aligning with higher energy and allowing the universe to pave the way.
This is Part 1 of my experience. In the next part, I will share insights on what to do after the holy dip, including spiritual temple visits, and ways to harness the energy of Kumbh for deeper transformation.
