Meditation is one of the most profound practices available to us for self-discovery, healing, and growth. It has been nearly four years, since 22nd December 2020, that we have been conducting online Brahma Muhurta meditation sessions. These sessions are free and open to all, held during the sacred pre-dawn hours when the mind is calm, and the universal energies are at their peak.
Over time, this practice has grown and evolved, yet one thing remains constant: the incredible power of the collective consciousness. When we meditate together as a group, the energy we create inspires and uplifts each participant, offering a powerful incentive to meditate, grow, and elevate.
Infinite Paths to Meditation
There are countless types of meditation—so many that their number is practically infinite. Yet, the method itself is secondary to the practice. Meditation is deeply personal, and each individual’s path is unique. What works for one may not work for another.
In our sessions, we no longer follow any one structure. Instead, we gather as a group, say universal prayer for everyones peace and well being, and sometimes play calming background music or sound frequencies. Beyond that, everyone is free to meditate in their own way. Some may sit in silence, while others focus on their breath, chant, or visualize. The beauty of this approach is that it honors the diversity of spiritual paths and allows everyone to connect with their inner self in a way that resonates most deeply with them.
The Early Steps of Meditation
For beginners, however, the initial stages of meditation can be challenging. In the beginning, guided meditations, background music, or sound therapy can serve as helpful tools to ease into the practice. I have witnessed how sound therapy, in particular, works wonders.
Nearly seven years ago, a remarkable experience reaffirmed my faith in the power of sound vibrations. A fellow practitioner, Prakash Golesar ji, brought his mother to me for energy and sound healing. She was suffering from paralysis, severe complications, and could not even digest water. Her condition was so critical that doctors had recommended ICU admission, but Prakash ji hesitated to pursue allopathic treatment.
Though I had limited experience with such severe cases, I performed one hour of sound therapy and energy healing for her. I still urged him to take her to the hospital and follow the doctors’ advice. To everyone’s surprise, by the next day, she began digesting water and juice, and the doctors declared that ICU admission was no longer necessary. In one month, she started her mornning walk alone.
This transformation was not because of me but because of the magic of sound vibrations, energy and frequencies. Such experiences remind us that these tools, when used in meditation, can align our energies and calm the mind, especially in the early stages of practice.
Commitment is Key
As we approach the fourth anniversary of this meditation practice, I feel grateful for the hundreds of people who have joined our journey over the years. Many are part of our WhatsApp group, yet it’s important to remember that merely being in the group will not bring transformation.
To benefit from meditation, one must practice it. Joining the group is like owning a musical instrument—it is only through consistent effort that you can create harmony. Similarly, participating in the meditation sessions, even for a few minutes, is the key to unlocking the powerful benefits of the collective energy we generate.
The Power of Consistency
Meditation is a practice of discipline. It doesn’t matter how long you meditate, but it does matter that you meditate daily. Over time, even the smallest steps can lead to significant transformation.
Many of you may already have developed the habit of meditation and overcome the hardest challenge: starting. Now, the focus is on maintaining consistency. As Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 2, Verse 47):
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
“You have a right to perform your duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.”
Apply this wisdom to meditation. Practice with faith and surrender, without attachment to results. Let meditation become your daily karma, an offering to the divine. When done with faith and consistency, the benefits will naturally follow.
Embrace the Collective Consciousness
Meditating as a group amplifies the energy and benefits for all participants. The collective consciousness supports and uplifts each individual, making the practice easier and more fulfilling. This is why we continue to hold these sessions every morning.
Recently, we organized a 21-day meditation challenge to help participants establish a routine. It was heartening to see people commit to the practice and experience its transformative effects. The next challenge has begun, and anyone can join at any time.
Remember, even if your steps are small, what matters is showing up daily. Let the collective energy motivate and inspire you to continue.
Ancient Wisdom on Meditation
Meditation has been central to Indian spirituality for centuries. Here are a few timeless insights from the Vedas and other scriptures:
Mundaka Upanishad (3.1.8):
"Meditation leads the mind to the Self, the immortal essence within. Only by realizing this Self can one attain supreme bliss."
Patanjali Yoga Sutras (1.2):
"Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind." This emphasizes that the goal of meditation is to still the restless mind and connect with our inner being.
Bhagavad Gita (6.5):
"Elevate yourself through the self and not degrade yourself, for the self alone is the friend of the self, and the self alone is the enemy of the self."
These teachings remind us of the transformative potential of meditation and the importance of self-discipline and inner growth.
A Personal Note of Gratitude
As I reflect on these past four years, I feel humbled and grateful for this journey. It has been a joy to witness the growth and transformation of those who have joined amd shared. Together, we have built a community of seekers striving for spiritual elevation.
Let us continue this beautiful practice, supporting one another and nurturing the collective consciousness. Meditation is the action, and elevation is the result—but only if we take the step to practice.
Be blessed by the divine. Let us meditate to elevate, one moment at a time.
