🌸 *Heartfelt greetings to all on the occasion of Sharadiya Navratri!*
Today marks the beginning of the ten-day Navratri festival. Everywhere there is joy, devotion, temple visits, the fragrance of incense and flowers, and the sound of aarti echoing in the air. Among these ten days, Lalita Panchami on the fifth, Durga Ashtami on the eighth, Mahanavami on the ninth, and Vijayadashami on the tenth are celebrated with special fervor.
But have we ever truly asked ourselves — why do we celebrate these festivals?
*The Mystery of Life — and Its Journey*
The conception of gods and goddesses in Indian culture was never meant to make us fatalistic.
Rather, it was designed to awaken the dormant powers within us and turn us into beings of effort and action.
Aartis, rituals, prayers — these are not meant to appease some external deity.
They are meant to invoke the forces that already reside within us, and awaken them.
When the essence behind worship is forgotten and one clings only to rituals, it ceases to be true worship and becomes mere blind ritualism.
The message of Navratri is simple yet profound:
God is not outside of you, God is within you. Awaken that divinity!
The real mystery of life is this — it can never be fully explained.
Birth and death, success and failure, joy and sorrow — we experience them all, yet their ultimate purpose remains hidden.
This very incompleteness makes life both mysterious and beautiful.
The meaning of life does not lie in solving this mystery, but in participating in it wholeheartedly, accepting it, and blossoming within it.
*Navratri as New Light*
“Nava” means new, and “Ratri” means night.
Navratri is the festival of lighting a new lamp in the darkness of our inner night.
This darkness is not outside — it is the darkness of fear, ignorance, and despair within us.
Worshipping the Goddess is nothing but a resolve to kindle the lamp of knowledge in that darkness and make life radiant.
The First Three Days — Durga: *Victory over Fear*
The first three days are dedicated to Goddess Durga.
Durga is courage, strength, the power that lifts us out of inertia.
• On the first day, Shailputri teaches: A mind as pure as a mountain peak is the source of true strength.
• On the second day, Brahmacharini reminds: Perseverance and steadfast effort are the real path.
• On the third day, Chandraghanta proclaims: No matter how great the fear, the power to overcome it lies within you.
These three days whisper to us:
Overcome fear, cast aside laziness, quiet your anger. You are not helpless. You are strong. With a pure heart and steady effort, fear itself bows before you.
The Next Three Days — Lakshmi: *The Meaning of Prosperity*
The following three days are devoted to Goddess Lakshmi.
Lakshmi is not merely wealth. True Lakshmi is inner abundance, contentment, and generosity.
• On the fourth day, Kushmanda teaches: Even in darkness, seek the light of joy.
• On the fifth day, Skandamata blesses with: Compassion’s warmth, the embrace of motherhood.
• On the sixth day, Katyayani reminds: Equanimity and restraint are true protection.
These days remind us:
True prosperity is not external wealth but the inner richness that never diminishes.
The Final Three Days — Saraswati: *The Gift of Wisdom*
The seventh, eighth, and ninth days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
Saraswati is not only books and learning, but wisdom, discernment, and inner vision.
• On the seventh day, Kaalratri teaches: It is only by facing darkness that light dawns.
• On the eighth day, Mahagauri shows: A mind purified by discipline shines with true beauty.
• On the ninth day, Siddhidatri reminds: Love, compassion, and knowledge together bring true accomplishment.
All these days tell us:
Every situation is a lesson. Every experience is a teacher.
*The Message of Mahakali*
On the tenth day, the celebration reaches its climax with the worship of Mahakali.
When the demon Mahishasura tormented the gods with his arrogance, the powers of Durga (courage), Lakshmi (resources), and Saraswati (wisdom) merged into one blazing form — Mahakali, who destroyed him.
Her message is timeless:
When destructive forces grow too powerful, no single strength is enough to defeat them.
It takes the courage of Durga + the resources of Lakshmi + the wisdom of Saraswati.
Together, they awaken the power of Mahakali — and then no “Mahishasura” can stand.
*Vijayadashami — The Day of True Victory*
The tenth day, Vijayadashami, is not about outer wars.
It is about the inner victory — the conquest of our own demons.
Victory of knowledge over ignorance, courage over fear, and hope over despair.
Navratri is not merely about rituals, aartis, or festivities.
It is the journey of awakening the dormant powers within us.
• The first three days: Victory over fear.
• The next three days: The true meaning of prosperity.
• The last three days: The gift of wisdom.
• And finally, Vijayadashami: The victory born of all three united.
🌸 *This is the essence of Navratri-*
God is not outside you, God is within you.
Awaken that divinity, and banish the darkness of life.🌸
✨ Navratri is not just a festival — it is a resolve to awaken the Goddess within. ✨
A reflection for Navratri —
