We recently encountered a concerning incident where one of our volunteers fell victim to a fraudulent call. The scammers, claiming to be from the police department, cited his Aadhaar card details and alleged his involvement in illegal activities. They pressured him to transfer 18000 rupees to a bank account, assuring that an agent would investigate and refund the amount if he was proven innocent. He transferred the amount and was still being pressurized saying there was arrest waarent in his name.
The victim who is our team member called me with worry, I immediately performed an aura scan and identified this as fraud. Many people fall prey to such scam. This incident thus made me feel that everyone should be empowered with tools to protect themselves and make informed decisions.
